1 If you live in a place wher the power blinks, you will come home to (or wake up to) a place wher all of your lights are on. That's just how they work. If you power down and then backup, the lamps default to 'on'.

2 they fail to find many of the bulbs in my setup even though they are on the same powerline and only 6 feet apart, so you have to enter the serial numbers manually.
This is a pain, especially when they're 20 feet in the air and you have to take them down to get the serial numbers (note - if you are crazy like me then write the serial numbers down first!)
The app sometimes won't even let me add serial numbers, it fails to sync, and with this many lights control becomes veeeeery sloooooow. I wish they made a PC app that could run with more oomph.

3 The Hue bulbs do not remember their last ON state, so if you put them on a switched AC circuit they will come on at 100% white. The FOH strips DO remember their last ON state when on a switched AC circuit. Philips should make this a programmable option.

4 love it when it works but on numerous occasions i've lost connectivity to bulbs. i still have one bulb i can't connect (it did work for a while then stopped) and have tried all the tricks on the web.

5 -The App: Yes, the Philips default app is completely worthless. I can't imagine how it got approved without the most basic functionality. However, some of the 3rd part apps are great.
Add another 5-10$ to this price in order to try out a few of them and see which ones you like. Honestly, who can afford $60 per light bulb but not $2.99 to make them work correctly?

6 And for the price, I'm very disappointed in the meager functionality Philips has provided for them. Their Android app is ok at best, and I primarily use third-party apps instead which are significantly better. There's no voice or motion control, no built-in automated control other than alarms, and no physical remotes or switches available

8 I can definitely tell that this technology is in its infancy. The software has a ways to go, but there are free apps out there that will do a better job.
I'll randomly lose connection with the bridge, in which case we just have to go back to the old school way of turning the lights on and off until the bridge starts to work again (usually anywher from a few seconds to a few hours).
There are quite a few colors that the lights just won't do. As others have mentioned, they're not very bright.

9 I'm very disappointed with this.
The control software still needs a lot of work, features missing etc.
The color is off; Red is orange, Blue is violet and Green is yellow. My guess is they are using some color mixing between led's to get brighter output but I would prefer better color representation over brightness. Actually the brightness is my biggest complaint.

12 I tried the "wake up" mode that will gently wake you up in the morning by gradually making the lights brighter. The only problem was, as I mentioned before, the low end of the dimming curve was not there, so the lights kind of popped on and then began the process of getting brighter. So while asleep in a dark room, it was easy to notice the point when the lights kicked on. It wasn't exactly a soothing wake up call.

13 and the bulbs don't remember their last state, so when you turn them back on they will always default to a warm white light at full brightness. I can understand why they did this (if you don't have your phone but need to turn the lights on, you can turn the switch off then back on), but it is somewhat annoying to need to have to use your phone. This would be much easier if Philips made Hue-compatible switches, but they mysteriously don't at the moment.

14 #1) You can't get any color you want. It doesn't do greens well AT ALL. Purples aren't much better. It will do blue, red, orange, yellow, & pink pretty good but you are extremely limited to the variations of those colors. #2) You can't dim the lights down as much as I would like. Depending on the color dialed in, even with the lowest dimming setting, it's still too bright. Even when I cut 3 of the 4 lights completely off and just have the one light a particular color it can still be too bright when dimmed to its lowest level.

16 Updating after owning for half a year: I'm lowering my rating on this product. Whenever there's a blip in the power, these bulbs come on at full brightness. I understand the use case wher these might be controlled by a wall switch. But the power in this region of Texas flips and blips at least once a month. I'm tired of being woken up in the middle of the night with all the bulbs in my bedroom running full-blast. I see this as a design flaw which needs to be user configurable.

17 They would not stay connected to the bridge. Mind you, I do not live in an overly large house and it's all one level. My sonos bridge does just fine with all of my music but with this I had to constantly pair the bulbs with the philips bridge, which defeats the purpose. Very frustrating and hopefully their next iteration of the product will be perfected.
